Prove Your Draft Order Was Not Rigged

Every league has the same joke: the commissioner ran it until they liked it. Schedule the reveal, post the link before the result exists, and the joke stops being available.

The whole league watches the same match at the same moment. Last one standing picks first.

The randomizer was never the problem. The problem is that the person who ran it is also in the league. Whatever tool they used, they saw the result first and then chose to share it, so there is always a version of the story where the first few attempts went in the bin. That doubt is usually a joke, and the joke is only funny until someone lands the last pick two years running.

The fix is committing before you know

You cannot answer the accusation by making the randomizer better. A fairer coin does not help when nobody watched the flip. The only thing that answers it is committing to one result in public, in front of the league, before anyone knows what that result is.

That is what scheduling a reveal does. You build the roster, pick a date and time, and get a share link immediately. The link does not contain a result anyone can look at. It contains a countdown. Post it in the league chat the moment you have it and the timestamp on that message does the work: everyone can see the link arrived before the order was known, including yours.

When the countdown hits zero the match plays for everyone on the link at once. You find out when they do.

What your league can check for themselves

None of this asks anyone to trust the commissioner, which is the point. Each piece is something a sceptical league member can verify without help.

The link landed before the result. Their own chat app timestamps it. Nothing on our side has to be believed.

Everyone got the same match. The order is drawn from the unique match ID inside the link using a seeded engine, so two people opening the same link see the identical match and the identical final order. Refreshing cannot reroll it. Anyone who doubts it can open the link again and watch the same thing happen.

Anything that tilted the odds is on the screen. If weighted lottery balls were used, every team's ball count sits next to their name in the final standings. If a team was locked to a finishing position, that placement is badged as pre-set. A commissioner who set an entrance order gets that disclosed too, along with the note that the finishing order was still drawn at random.

The receipt travels. The results screen records that it was a scheduled reveal, with the date the link was created and the date it played, so the proof is in the screenshot that gets pasted back into the chat.

Where the limit actually is

Worth being straight about this, because a fairness claim that overreaches is worse than no claim. The countdown runs on each viewer's own device clock. Somebody determined enough to change their computer's clock could watch early, and no draft order tool that plays in a browser can fully stop that.

What it does stop is the thing that actually happens: quietly generating a handful of orders and posting the flattering one. That route is closed, because a scheduled link cannot show you a result to choose between. And the part that makes it checkable, the link sitting in the chat from before the reveal, does not depend on trusting the clock at all.

Make the draw the event

1

Build the roster

Type the teams in, paste your list, or import from Sleeper, Yahoo or ESPN.

2

Schedule the reveal

Pick a date and time. No result exists for anyone to see, including you.

3

Post it straight away

Drop the link in the league chat. That timestamp is the proof.

Draft order fairness FAQ

How do I prove I did not re-run it until I liked it?

Schedule the reveal instead of generating an instant result, and post the share link in your league chat as soon as you have it. The match will not play for anyone, including you, until the countdown reaches zero, so the message sitting in the chat is dated evidence that you committed to that match before the order existed. The results screen then records that it was a scheduled reveal, with the date the link was created and the date it played.

Can the commissioner see the draft order early?

Not through the product. A scheduled match shows a countdown instead of a result, for the commissioner exactly as for everyone else, and the league sees the order for the first time together. The honest limit: the countdown runs on each viewer's own device clock, so this is a public commitment rather than a cryptographic guarantee. What makes it checkable is that the link was shared before the reveal.

Why is a screenshot of a randomizer not enough?

Because a screenshot only shows the attempt that was posted. Nothing in it rules out the attempts that were not. That doubt is small and it never fully goes away, which is why the order should live in a link the whole league opens rather than in an image one person exports.

Can two people open the link and get different orders?

No. The order is drawn from the unique match ID in the link with a seeded engine, so every viewer of the same link sees the identical match and the identical final order, and reopening it cannot reroll it.

What if I gave some teams better odds?

Weighted odds are allowed and they are disclosed. Each team's lottery ball count appears next to their name in the final standings, and a team locked to a finishing position is badged as pre-set, so the league sees exactly what was in play without having to ask.

Does scheduling cost anything?

No. Scheduling the reveal is free and needs no account, the same as running the draft order itself.
